Bayern Completes Signing of Guerreiro

Bayern Munich, the defending champions of the German Bundesliga, announced that they have signed left-back Raphael Guerreiro on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund this past Friday. Guerreiro, whose contract with Dortmund ends in one week, has signed a three-year deal with Bayern. The 29-year-old defender will reunite with Thomas Tuchel, Bayern's coach, who brought him to Dortmund from French club Lorient in 2016.

Guerreiro stated, "When the call from Bayern came, I made my decision quickly. It is an honor to represent this great club, and I have great respect for Thomas Tuchel from our previous work together at Dortmund."

Guerreiro spent seven years at Dortmund, playing over 200 matches for the club and scoring 40 goals. He has also appeared in 64 international matches for Portugal and won the European Championship in 2016.

Although Guerreiro's primary position is left-back, he has also played as a left winger and midfielder. Last season, he scored four goals and assisted twelve in the Bundesliga, which saw Bayern crowned champions on goal difference over Dortmund, marking their 11th consecutive title.

The last player to move from Dortmund to Bayern was Mats Hummels in 2016, who returned to Dortmund three years later. Guerreiro is the second player to join Bayern after the season, following the acquisition of Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig on a free transfer as well.
