The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced in a statement late last night that it "will work to enhance and expand trade and investment cooperation with South Africa, in addition to allowing an increase in South African exports to China." It also noted that it "will support Chinese companies in strengthening cooperation in manufacturing, mining, agriculture, and new energy in the African country." Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile in the capital, Pretoria, on Wednesday.
