Barcelona, the champions of Spain's La Liga, announced today that they have signed Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer from Manchester City. Barcelona stated on its website that Gundogan has signed a contract until 2025 with a buyout clause of 400 million euros (435.77 million dollars).
Gundogan said in a statement, "Manchester City represented my home, and I felt like I was part of a truly exceptional family at City. I was fortunate to experience many unforgettable moments during my time here, and being the captain during this exceptional season was the best experience of my career."
He proved to be a key player for City, especially in the last two seasons, scoring many crucial goals in the club's campaign. Gundogan leaves after playing over 300 matches and scoring 60 goals.
