Apple Employees Organize Strike Ahead of iPhone 15 Launch

Unions representing employees at Apple stores in France have called for a strike on the upcoming Friday and Saturday, just before the launch of the iPhone 15, to demand better wages and working conditions. The General Confederation of Labor – Apple Retail (CGT Apple Retail) stated in a message on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday that "after management's decision to ignore our legitimate demands and concerns, the four unions (representing Apple Retail employees in France) ... are calling for a strike on September 22 and 23."

The unions also called for a demonstration on Friday morning in front of the Paris Opera Garnier, near one of Apple's major stores in Paris. Last week, Apple faced a setback after the French government decided to suspend the sale of the iPhone 12 following tests that reportedly revealed it exceeded permissible radiation levels.

Apple pledged on Friday to update the software running on the iPhone 12 in France to resolve the radiation level dispute, but concerns in other European countries regarding the same issue indicated that Apple may have to take similar actions in those countries.
