New Spain Coach Aims to Improve the Team

The new coach of the Spanish national football team, Luis De La Fuente, stated before the match against Scotland at Hampden Park on Tuesday that Spain will face a tough physical challenge against a "strong opponent," but they have the quality to achieve two consecutive victories in the Euro 2024 qualifiers. De La Fuente began his tenure promisingly, winning 3-0 at home against Norway on Saturday. Dani Olmo scored an early goal, and Joselu added two late goals in his international debut at the age of 33. Despite the big win, the coach was not satisfied with the performance. De La Fuente, who took over from former coach Luis Enrique after the World Cup in Qatar, mentioned that he "felt more comfortable after watching the match on video again."

He told reporters in Glasgow on Monday, "The feeling always improves after reviewing the video more than being on the pitch. I am very optimistic about what we are doing, and we came away with more positive things from the match than negative." He added, "I am now more optimistic because we have more time to work as a team; we have identified some things we need to improve." Scotland has not beaten Spain since 1984, but De La Fuente has noticed a remarkable improvement in the opponent's performance.
