Discovery of Gold Coins Under the Ruins of a Temple in Tunisia

Archaeologists in Tunisia have discovered rare gold coins that are 2300 years old, as well as jars containing remains of animals, infants, and fetuses, in the ruins of the ancient city of Carthage. The scientists found tombs and five gold coins near the ruins of the "Tofa" temple, located on a hill in the outskirts of the capital, Tunis. The Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs stated on its Facebook page that the temple was previously a rural monument dedicated to the deities Baal Hamon and the goddess Tanit.
