War in Gaza between Lavrov and his Chinese Counterpart

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. Russian state news agencies reported Lavrov stating that "China's Belt and Road Initiative is important for enhancing cooperation in the Eurasian region." Lavrov added after his meeting with Wang Yi, "We consider this movement and this project an important part of strengthening cooperation based on equality and mutual benefit throughout the Eurasian continent." Lavrov confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss all aspects of bilateral cooperation with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his upcoming visit to Beijing this week. The Russian news agency TASS reported on Monday that Sergey Lavrov discussed the escalating conflict in the Middle East with Wang Yi in Beijing. TASS further noted that Lavrov and Wang Yi also talked about the military conflict in Ukraine and ways to resolve it "through political and diplomatic means."
