The media office of the Minister of National Defense in the caretaker government, Maurice Sleem, indicated that "written, broadcast, and audio media reported this morning, Thursday, that the Minister of Defense presented a list of names of army officers to Prime Minister Najib Mikati for their appointment to the military council in the Ministry of National Defense. Some media outlets engaged in analyses and narratives from known sources." The office emphasized in a statement that "these reports are entirely unfounded and fall within the context of organized campaigns led by concerned parties, which promote leaks that do not reflect reality, and which indeed harm the military institution, contrary to what these leakers claim about their concern for the army and its role in these challenging circumstances."
