The Saudi Ministry of Tourism announced today, Thursday, that all residents of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries can obtain a tourist visa for those wishing to visit the Kingdom for tourism or to perform Umrah. "We announce the expansion of the approval of all professions for those wishing to obtain a visit visa for tourism purposes from residents of GCC countries, which enables the holder to visit the Kingdom and perform Umrah," the ministry stated. Earlier, the ministry clarified in a statement that "all residents of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are now able to enter the Kingdom with an electronic tourist visa, by applying through the 'Spirit of Saudi' platform, provided that their residency is valid for at least three months. This includes first-degree relatives of the residency holder traveling with them, as well as domestic service workers accompanying their sponsors," according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
According to the statement, the tourist visit visa regulations issued by the ministry stipulate "the necessity for tourists to comply with the regulations and instructions while in the Kingdom, including carrying identification documents at all times." The ministry also noted that the tourist visa does not permit performing Hajj, nor does it allow performing Umrah during the Hajj season.
