The Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water, through its media office, announced the fair pricing for private electric generators for the month of August: 48,241 L.L. per kilowatt-hour.
For subscribers using meters in cities or densely populated areas or at an altitude below 700 meters:
- 5 Amp capacity: 385,000 L.L. + a monthly fee of 48,241 L.L. per kilowatt-hour.
- 10 Amp capacity: 685,000 L.L. + a monthly fee x 48,241 L.L. per kilowatt-hour.
53,065 L.L. per kilowatt-hour.
For subscribers using meters in villages or rural areas or at an altitude above 700 meters:
- 5 Amp capacity: 385,000 L.L. (fixed) + a monthly fee x 53,065 L.L. per kilowatt-hour.
- 10 Amp capacity: 685,000 L.L. (fixed) + a monthly fee x 53,065 L.L. per kilowatt-hour.
An additional 300,000 L.L. is added to the fixed tariff for every extra 5 Amps.
The ministry indicated that this tariff is based on an average diesel price of 2,415,495 L.L. per 20 liters in August, after accounting for all operational expenses and profits for generator owners.
The statement detailed, "In coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Trade, we considered the distribution cost of diesel from the fuel station to the generator, accounting for essential components like oil costs, filters, and the average monthly wear and tear of generators, with the average parallel market exchange rate reaching 89,700 L.L."
The Ministry of Energy and Water urged generator owners to comply with the Ministry of Economy and Trade's mandate to install meters. They plan to conduct documented studies regarding this to update the applied equation to better accommodate exchange rate fluctuations and the economic and social conditions of citizens, while considering the needs of private generator owners.
