The World Food Programme has indicated that it will reduce financial assistance for Syrian refugees in Jordan starting from August, according to the Associated Press. The UN's World Food Programme stated that it will decrease the monthly cash assistance for 120,000 Syrian refugees living in camps in Jordan due to what it described as an "unprecedented funding crisis." The monthly cash allowance will be reduced from $32 to $21. Jordan has a population of 11 million and hosts approximately 1.3 million refugees from Syria. Most live in towns and cities across the country, while tens of thousands have settled in the Zaatari and Azraq camps.
