On Wednesday, Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Miqdad met with his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan on the sidelines of the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Arab League Council at the top level in its thirty-second session. During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the Syrian situation and the region and exchanged views on topics of mutual interest. They also shared perspectives on the agenda items for the preparatory ministerial meeting of the Arab League Council.
Following the meeting, Al-Miqdad stated, "We have the decision from the highest leaderships in Syria and Saudi Arabia to move forward. There is no turning back." He added, "We discussed many issues, including the preparations for the Arab summit, and we are satisfied with what has been achieved so far in this regard, with instructions from the leaderships of both countries to elevate bilateral relations to the level deserving of the peoples of the Syrian Arab Republic and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
Al-Miqdad also mentioned that they discussed the opening of embassies in both countries, emphasizing that Syria and Saudi Arabia will provide all necessary facilities to open the embassies as soon as possible.
