Vissel Kobe, the recently crowned champion of the J-League, announced on Saturday the departure of Spanish midfielder Juan Mata after the expiration of his contract with the club. Mata stated in a statement: "I am very happy to have been part of this historic moment for the club when we won the league title for the first time." The 2010 World Cup winner with the Spanish national team added: "I will always remember the memories we shared together." Mata (35) signed a four-month contract in the middle of the season and was part of the squad that won the domestic league title in his only participation. Mata also won the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea in 2012 before spending eight seasons with Manchester United.
