Title: White House: We Have Not Yet Seen Hezbollah Actively Join to Assist Hamas

White House spokesperson John Kirby announced on Tuesday that "U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Brett McGurk is in Cairo today for serious discussions regarding the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza and reaching a humanitarian ceasefire." He confirmed in a press conference that "the Biden administration will certainly support a longer humanitarian ceasefire," and noted that "McGurk will also discuss other issues, including obtaining an assessment of Israeli military operations and Israel’s efforts to protect civilians, in addition to continuing discussions about normalizing relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia." Kirby stated that "we have not yet seen Hezbollah actively join to assist Hamas in what could be described as an escalation of the conflict."
