The official newspaper reported early Friday that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has appointed Deputy Governor Fatih Karahan as the new Governor of the Central Bank following the resignation of Hafize Gaye Erkan. Fatih Karahan was previously appointed as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank according to the decision published in the official newspaper. He graduated from Istanbul High School for Boys in 2001 and studied Industrial Engineering and Mathematics at Bogazici University in 2005-2006. Karahan earned a master's degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010 and a PhD in economics in 2012. Fatih Karahan, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, was an economist at the New York Federal Reserve from 2012 to 2022.
