The Russian Federal Financial Monitoring Service has listed the LGBTQ movement as a terrorist and extremist organization. The Russian Supreme Court issued a ruling in November 2023 deeming the LGBTQ movement "extremist" and banning its activities. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree in 2022 classifying LGBTQ relationships within the range of "ideas and values destructive to Russian society."
