French League Suspends 4 PSG Players

The French Football League has suspended four Paris Saint-Germain players for one match, pending further action, for chanting offensive remarks against Marseille after the match between the two teams in September. The four players are Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi, Randal Kolo Muani, Ousmane Dembélé, and Layvin Kurzawa.

During the match between PSG and their hosts Marseille (4-0) in the sixth round of Ligue 1 on September 24, fans of Paris Saint-Germain were heard celebrating their team's victory with anti-Marseille chants. The French sports newspaper "L'Équipe" reported that players from Paris Saint-Germain also participated in the offensive chanting.

The French league's disciplinary committee summoned Achraf Hakimi, Randal Kolo Muani, Ousmane Dembélé, and Layvin Kurzawa to explain what happened in the stands and the insults directed at Marseille. According to Radio Monte Carlo, the committee decided to suspend the aforementioned quartet for one match, pending further action.

In regard to the chants that emerged from the “Auteuil” stand at the Parc des Princes, which contained insults against the LGBTQ+ community, the stand will be closed for two matches, one of which is suspended.
