Real Betis, currently seventh in La Liga, announced on Thursday the extension of midfielder Isco's contract until 2027. The 31-year-old former Real Madrid player has played 24 matches for Real Betis since joining during the last summer transfer window, scoring three goals and providing four assists. Isco, who has won the Champions League five times with Real Madrid, is having a great start to the season with the Andalusian team after a disappointing stint with their neighbors Sevilla, where he terminated his contract after just four and a half months. He has quickly become a key player in the squad of Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini. Betis is currently in seventh place in the league and will compete in the knockout round of the UEFA Europa League against Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in February, after finishing third in Group C behind Scottish side Glasgow Rangers and Czech club Sparta Prague.
