Fajr Forces Join the Southern Front: What Do We Know About Them?

Fajr Forces have entered the southern front, announcing today, Wednesday, that they have launched missile strikes targeting Israeli army positions and achieved direct hits. So, what about this group?

Fajr Forces is a group formed by some youth affiliated with the Islamic Group in Lebanon following the Israeli invasion in June 1982.

**Name and Formation**

The committed youth of the Islamic Group in Lebanon mobilized and carried out jihadist operations against Israeli forces and their collaborators, naming their organization "Fajr Forces." The emergence of these forces was a response to the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, with the confrontation area being Sidon. After a campaign of arrests by Israel that targeted the leaders and members of the Islamic Group in Sidon, several groups from the organization relocated to Tripoli and Beirut, where they rented homes, with some engaging in attacks along the Sidon-Beirut road, coordinating with Hezbollah, which was in its early humble beginnings.

**Liberation of Sidon**

After the liberation of Sidon on February 16, 1985, the Islamic Group maintained a "symbolic" force within the resistance in the south, operating under the direction of its leadership. Another "symbolic force" from the residents of the Arqoub region in the far south continued to operate until the July War last year, after which they vacated their position following the entry of the army and enhanced UNIFIL forces into that area.
