Protest by Retired Engineers at the Syndicate Center in Beirut

Retired engineers held a protest at the Syndicate Center in Beirut. Speaking on behalf of the founding committee of the Association of Retired Engineers, engineer Walid Sandid stated: "Our demands, according to the letter addressed to the head of the syndicate and members of the pension fund committee, are summarized in securing additional social assistance until the budget is approved due to the living and health difficulties resulting from the new economic conditions, in addition to ensuring a salary that guarantees a decent living and reducing healthcare fees in the new budget." He added: "We held a meeting with the head of the syndicate, engineer Aref Yassin, during which several colleagues participated in the discussion about the proposed demands, and he promised to study them with the members of the pension fund committee on Tuesday, and we will be informed of the results on Wednesday." He continued: "The engineers unanimously decided to close the syndicate if our demands are not met, and we informed the head of the syndicate of this during the meeting."
