Jordanian Foreign Minister: Immediate Halt to Israeli Aggression in Jenin

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi called on Tuesday for an "immediate halt to the Israeli aggression in Jenin," indicating that "the primary cause of tension in the West Bank is the continuation and entrenchment of the occupation."

During a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Ankara, Safadi stated: "We are united in condemning and rejecting the Israeli aggression in Jenin, and we call on the international community to act swiftly and effectively to stop this aggression, which will only lead to more violence and tension that will reflect on the entire region."

The Jordanian minister also condemned "the crime of burning the Quran in Sweden, which reflects a culture of hatred and cannot be justified in any way. We must act to work with the international community to criminalize such acts as they only contribute to fueling tensions."

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan commented that Turkey has condemned the burning of the Quran in Sweden and will continue to respond actively, stating that such acts occur in Sweden under police and legal protection, and urged authorities to prevent their recurrence.

Fidan also noted that "attacks against Palestinians must be urgently stopped."

Safadi arrived in Ankara today for meetings with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. During these meetings, they are expected to exchange views on current regional and international issues, as well as on bilateral relations.

On Monday, Safadi met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his Syrian counterpart Faisal al-Miqdad in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
