5 Points That Determined the Fate of Prigozhin and the Wagner Forces

The spokesperson for the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, revealed the key points of the agreement between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, during the Minsk mediation to end the armed rebellion through a settlement process. Peskov stated: "Wagner fighters who did not participate in the rebellion will sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense, and the other fighters will not be prosecuted." He emphasized that the Russian president is the guarantor of the settlement agreement reached with Lukashenko's mediation. The Kremlin stated that Prigozhin will move to Belarus and the criminal charges against him will be dropped, according to Russia Today.

The points included in the agreement are:

1. Some Wagner fighters who refused to engage from the beginning in Prigozhin's "campaign" will have the opportunity to join the ranks of the Russian armed forces and contract with the Ministry of Defense.

2. These individuals will not face any legal prosecution.

3. The Wagner company's forces will return to their camps.

4. Those who do not wish to return to the facilities and camps will sign agreements with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

5. The criminal case against Prigozhin will be dropped, and he will leave for Belarus.

Peskov also clarified that the Russian and Belarusian presidents agreed on the Minsk mediation in the settlement process, noting that the mediation was "a personal initiative from the President of Belarus." He added that Lukashenko's efforts stemmed from a desire to avoid bloodshed and internal confrontation.

Peskov confirmed that what happened will not affect the course of the special military operation in Ukraine in any way, stressing that Russian forces continue to successfully repel the Ukrainian counterattack.
