Mikati in Davos: Urging Pressure on Israel to Stop Aggressions in Southern Lebanon

Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati continued his international and Arab diplomatic meetings today, Wednesday, during his participation in the "World Economic Forum" in Davos, Switzerland. Mikati emphasized the "priority of working towards a ceasefire in Gaza and allowing humanitarian aid into the region as a prelude to returning to discussions for a peaceful solution by recognizing the Palestinian right to live in a secure homeland."

He called on "active countries to pressure Israel to stop its aggressions against southern Lebanon and its ongoing violations of Lebanese sovereignty." Mikati reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and all other international resolutions, demanding "pressure on Israel to fully implement the resolution and return to abiding by all international resolutions since the truce agreement signed in 1949."

In this context, the Prime Minister met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, as well as Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan. Mikati also held discussions with Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' Al-Sudani, Tunisian Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani, Pakistani Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar, and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

Additionally, the Prime Minister met with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, and Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg.
