British Foreign Secretary David Cameron stated on Sunday, during a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, that "Iran shares responsibility for preventing Houthi attacks in the Red Sea." He mentioned on the social media platform X that he made it clear that Iran is responsible for preventing these attacks due to its long-standing support for the Houthis, adding that "the attacks threaten the lives of innocents and the global economy."
Cameron tweeted, "I spoke to @Amirabdolahian today about Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, which threaten innocent lives and the global economy. I made clear that Iran shares responsibility for preventing these attacks given their long-standing support to the Houthis."
Iranian state media reported Amir-Abdollahian's remarks: "The Israeli regime cannot be allowed to commit massacres against women and children and commit genocide in Gaza while stopping a Zionist ship in the Red Sea is considered a threat to the security of this economic waterway."
