According to Claudio T, a researcher at the Laboratory for Monitoring and Modeling the Environment (Lamma) of the Italian National Research Council, the surface temperature of the Alpine glaciers has risen above zero. He states: "It turns out that the temperature in all areas of the Alps at all elevations is above zero, and the situation is very critical." He mentions that last week, the African cyclone "Nero" reached Italy, which, according to meteorological experts, will remain until August 26. This cyclone has caused temperatures in central and northwestern Italy to rise to 38 degrees Celsius. Experts believe this will be the last heatwave of the summer. According to researcher T, the hottest days will be Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures rising in some regions by 7 degrees Celsius above the usual average and in the western Alpine areas by up to 10 degrees Celsius. He adds, "The freezing level is expected to rise to 5,000 meters." It is noted that the freezing level in July 2022 was at an altitude of 4,800 meters.
