Kyiv Plans to Spend $7.2 Billion on Weapons and Ammunition

Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Yuriy Dzhyhir indicated that "about $5 billion of the Ministry of Defense's budget for next year will be allocated for missile purchases, and $2.2 billion for other weapons and ammunition." The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense wrote on Telegram, quoting him: "One of the main priorities of the defense budget for 2024 is missile armaments and ammunition, and approximately 175 billion hryvnias (about $5 billion) is earmarked for this, along with about 80 billion hryvnias (approximately $2.2 billion) for other weapons. The next priority will be the repair of damaged military equipment and the purchase of necessary spare parts." The Ukrainian Ministry of Finance announced that "the draft budget for 2024 provides for security and defense spending of $48 billion, which accounts for 23% of the gross domestic product."
