As the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip enters its fourth month today, Wednesday, the issue of supporting Palestinian factions remains central for Tel Aviv. In a recent development, the Israeli army announced the discovery of direct links between Iran and Yahya Sinwar, the head of the Hamas political bureau in Gaza.
Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee posted on his account on X platform on Tuesday evening, what he claimed was part of intelligence information found by the army, indicating what he termed a direct relationship between Iran and Hamas in general, and between Iran and Yahya Sinwar specifically.
Adraee stated: “Today, we publish part of the intelligence information discovered by our forces that indicates the direct relationship between Iran and Hamas in general and between Iran and Yahya Sinwar in particular. We found an official document issued by Hamas dated 2020, which includes details of the financial amounts transferred from Iran…”
The document images indicate that the total amount is $154 million provided by Iran to Sinwar via the "Jerusalem Post" team. The documents detail the funds transferred from Iran to Hamas from 2014 to 2020, according to the Israeli army.
Adraee questioned, “Where are the millions, Sinwar? Sinwar has always tried to present himself as a humble man... but the new documents we revealed prove that he, like other Hamas leaders, cares first and foremost about his personal pockets.”
Furthermore, it claims that Sinwar received $15 million, $48 million, $42 million, and $12 million in the years 2014, 2015, 2019, and 2020, respectively. Additionally, a video published by the Israeli army apparently shows the discovery of some funds, a safe, and bags containing money allocated for the movement, as they stated.
