Warner Bros. Discovery announced on Tuesday that it has reached an agreement with actor Tom Cruise to develop and produce original films as well as sequels to popular franchises in 2024. Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, stated that "the agreement with Tom Cruise, the biggest movie star in the world, is extremely significant." He added that "talent attracts talent, and every production company promotes its official works with top filmmakers and stars to demonstrate its commitment to these highly sought-after creatives."
Cruise will hold an office position at Warner Bros. Discovery in Burbank, as have stars like Clint Eastwood and Frank Sinatra. According to Comscore, Cruise's films have grossed over $12 billion globally throughout his five-decade career. His 2022 film "Top Gun: Maverick" earned nearly $1.5 billion, while his latest film "Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One" grossed $568 million worldwide. A source indicated that the agreement with Warner Bros. is non-exclusive because Cruise will be working on the next installment of the "Mission: Impossible" series for Paramount Pictures.
