Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant indicated today, Tuesday, that "we are in a multi-front war and we are operating everywhere to clarify to our enemies across the Middle East that the price for an operation against Israel will be high." Gallant stated, "Israel will open a joint operations room with international groups to facilitate the coordination of aid distribution in Gaza with the army, following an airstrike that resulted in the death of seven relief workers."
Gallant's threats come in the wake of the recent strike targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus, amid fears of the conflict expanding and escalating should Iran choose to retaliate. Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari revealed yesterday, Monday, that what was targeted in Damascus was a military building belonging to the Quds Force, not a consulate or embassy. Speaking to CNN, the Israeli military spokesperson accused Iran of working over the past six months to escalate tensions in the region. Meanwhile, the New York Times reported, citing Israeli sources, that Israel is behind the Damascus attack.
