Kremlin: China Will Not Change Its Stance on the Ukraine Conflict Under Any External Influence

The Kremlin confirmed today, Friday, that it has been following the "important discussions" between Chinese President Xi Jinping, French President Emmanuel Macron, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, asserting that "China will not change its position on the conflict in Ukraine under any external influence."

It pointed out that "the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus will not require a change in Russia's concept of using nuclear weapons."

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov revealed to reporters that the Kremlin "closely monitored" the talks between the European Union and China, emphasizing that Russia has "deep ties" with Beijing. He added, "China is not the type to change its positions quickly under external pressure."

Following the discussions, Xi expressed his willingness to speak directly with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as stated by von der Leyen, while Macron mentioned that he urged Beijing to "bring Russia to its senses."

China proposed a "peace plan" for Ukraine in its first major diplomatic intervention in the conflict, but Kyiv and some Western leaders remain skeptical about Xi's close relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
