The statement indicated that, according to the numbers, the rate of violence against women and girls in Lebanon rose in 2023, while the hotline operated by the Ministry of Interior received 767 complaints, averaging 64 complaints per month. In this context, the organization emphasized the importance of reporting violence crimes and the necessity for a rapid response from the internal security forces to investigate and refer cases to the competent judiciary for fair and deterrent judgments.
According to the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces, the number of victims of sexual assault among women and girls also increased in 2023 compared to 2022, with 172 victims reported. The organization stressed the need for stricter penalties for sexual assault crimes to reduce their occurrence.

The number of victims of sexual violence against women and girls in Lebanon during 2023 was 172, averaging 14 victims monthly, while the total number of complaints in 2022 was 121. Additionally, there were 407 victims of cyber extortion in 2023. The internal security forces received 767 complaints on the domestic violence hotline in 2023, averaging 64 complaints per month, compared to 1,745 complaints in 2022.
