The Jeddah Book Fair in Saudi Arabia launched today, Thursday, at the Superdome Center, featuring participation from over 1,000 local, Arab, and international publishing houses. This year’s edition, which runs until December 16, carries the slogan "Cultural Harbors." The cultural program includes 31 seminars, three discussion panels, 24 workshops, four poetry nights, and nine theatrical performances, along with activities specifically for children in music, cooking, and book cover design.
The fair, organized by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, supports local content creators through the "Saudi Author Corner," which aims to market the books of Saudi authors and promote their works.
Mohammed Hassan Alwan, the commission's CEO, stated that the Jeddah Book Fair is part of the Book Fairs initiative, one of the commission's strategic initiatives, which seeks to bring books to various regions of the Kingdom to enhance awareness and knowledge and make it accessible to all segments of society.
The Jeddah Book Fair is the fourth of its kind held in Saudi Arabia this year, following the Eastern Province Book Fair in March, the Madinah Book Fair in June, and the Riyadh International Book Fair in September.
From the heart of Jeddah, we meet you at a new cultural event. Join us at the #JeddahBookFair2023 #CulturalHarbors #LiteraturePublishingTranslationCommission.
