UEFA Announces Referee for Champions League Final

The UEFA, on Monday, announced the referee who will officiate the Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium in London on June 1. The match will be overseen by Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić, who will be accompanied by fellow compatriots Nejc Križaj and Rade Obrenović as Video Assistant Referee (VAR) assistants. Slovenians Tomaž Klanič and Andraž Kovačič will serve as assistant referees, while French referees François Letexier and Cyril Mugnier will take on the roles of fourth official and reserve assistant referee.

Vinčić has officiated seven matches in this season's Champions League, but has never refereed a match for Real Madrid. Conversely, he officiated one match for Dortmund this season, which was the second leg of the quarter-finals against Atlético Madrid, a match that the German team won 4-2. The Champions League final will be Vinčić's second in a European club competition, after he was selected for the 2021 Europa League final in Seville, between Eintracht Frankfurt and Rangers.
