Today, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, received Saudi Minister of Trade Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi in the capital, Kuala Lumpur. During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance mutual cooperation, initiatives to implement joint government programs, and partnership opportunities in key priority sectors for the two brotherly countries. The Minister of Trade arrived yesterday leading a Saudi delegation of 44 officials and leaders representing 20 government entities and 24 private sector organizations on a working visit to Malaysia, aimed at promoting inter-trade in products and services and elevating the economic partnership, in addition to participating in the launch event of the Saudi-Malaysian Business Council.
Majid discussed cooperation between both sides, the facilities provided to the business sectors in both countries, encouraging exports, enhancing the capabilities of Saudi and Malaysian companies to access global markets, and collaborating on capacity building in innovation, emerging technologies, research programs, and e-commerce. The Minister of Trade participated in the launch event of the Saudi-Malaysian Business Council alongside his Malaysian counterpart, emphasizing that the Kingdom's Vision 2030, launched by the Prime Minister, has transformed the Saudi economy, making it different from what it was at the announcement of the vision in 2016. He pointed out that Saudi Arabia and Malaysia enjoy strong trade relations, with significant opportunities for expansion and diversification, given the Kingdom's efforts to become a global hub for trade and logistics services.
