The ticket prices for the upcoming concert of Iraqi singer Kadhim Al-Sahir in Egypt have sparked widespread controversy among social media users due to their significant increase. The price for a ticket in the front row has reached 32,000 Egyptian pounds (approximately 700 US dollars). Kadhim Al-Sahir is set to perform a concert next Friday at the Saqqara Pyramids in Egypt, two years after his last concert there, which was at the Egyptian Opera House.
The organizing body announced the ticket prices, which ranged from 32,160 Egyptian pounds for the front row to 13,920 Egyptian pounds for the twentieth and last row. Social media activists circulated the concert's prices with mockery; for instance, Shaima Ali wrote: “Whoever pays 2400 will be seeing it from the stage screen. Why not spend that on a nice meal and enjoy it at home? Why this, Kadhim, I used to love you?!”
Some fans of Kadhim Al-Sahir commented on the conditions for attending his upcoming concert in Cairo, considering that many of the terms were overly stringent, particularly the ban on unaccompanied individuals from attending.
Kadhim Al-Sahir's concert comes after the release of his new album "With Love," which was launched on February 14, coinciding with Valentine's Day, through carefully selected poems arranged by a flowers coordinator. For the first time, Al-Sahir included new poets in his album, alongside renowned poets such as the late Nizar Qabbani and Karim Al-Iraqi, while the album was limited to formal poetry, celebrating the Arabic language that no one can deny he has revitalized since his early beginnings in the music world.
