Egyptian, Qatari, and American Security Leaders Meet in Doha to Discuss Gaza Ceasefire

Egyptian media reported, citing a high-level source, that the Qatari capital, Doha, is hosting a meeting today, Wednesday, of Egyptian, Qatari, and American security leaders to discuss the resumption of ceasefire negotiations in Gaza. The Egyptian security delegation is intensifying its communications to advance the negotiation process towards achieving a ceasefire in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Axios reported that CIA Director William Burns and Biden's Senior Middle East Advisor Brett McGurk will visit the region to push for a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Egyptian media also reported that a delegation from the Islamic Jihad movement has arrived in Cairo to discuss the situation in Gaza. The reports indicated that the delegation, led by the Secretary-General of the movement, Ziad al-Nakhalah, is visiting Cairo "at an Egyptian invitation to review the Palestinian situation and issues related to the Gaza Strip."

On the other side, Israeli media reported that the war council will request American guarantees allowing Israel to continue fighting Hamas in the Gaza Strip if the movement violates a potential ceasefire agreement in exchange for the release of hostages. The Times of Israel cited a government official saying that Israel's request for guarantees reduces the likelihood of reaching a ceasefire agreement in the region.
