Xavi Hernandez, the head coach of Barcelona, commented on the club's decision to dismiss him from his position at the end of the current season. Xavi wrote today, Friday, on his official Instagram account: "My dear friends, on Sunday my time on the Barcelona bench will come to an end."
He continued: "It is never easy to leave the club of your life, but I am very proud after two and a half years at the helm of a dressing room that felt like a second family."
He added: "I want to thank the fans for their support and affection, as they have always been by my side, showing me the same love at all times, just like in my playing days."
The Spanish coach mentioned: "Starting Sunday, I will be a supporter in the stands, either at the current Olympic Stadium or a few months later at the new Camp Nou, because before becoming a player or a coach, I was a Barcelona fan, and I only want the best for the club of my life."
He continued: "I have worked with a wonderful group of players and an excellent coaching staff. Thanks to them, we achieved some goals, culminating last season with the league win and the Super Cup."
He noted: "Things didn't go as we wanted this season, but we helped nurture a new generation of young players from La Masia, who ignite the enthusiasm of all Barcelona fans."
He concluded: "Thank you very much to everyone: the fans, the players, the coaching staff, the club employees, the president, the board, the sporting director, and the media, and everyone I shared this journey with. I wish the best for the club I hold in my heart... Long live Barcelona."
