Real Madrid's management, led by Florentino Pérez, has raised objections regarding the new format of the Club World Cup, which is set to take place in the summer of 2025. The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) announced that the tournament will feature 32 clubs, including Real Madrid, Manchester City, Al Hilal, Al Ahly, and other major teams. The tournament is scheduled to be held in June and July 2025 in the United States for the first time under this format, expanding the competition. Reports indicate that Real Madrid is the first among participating clubs to object, although it is the second to raise concerns after the English Premier League, particularly about the timing of the tournament, as it will occur at the end of the next season, which starts in August 2024. The reports also highlighted that Real Madrid believes that "the situation is difficult, as the season will last nearly 11 consecutive months with little to no rest, and the number of matches will be 72, including the final of the Club World Cup."
