The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, stated today, Monday, that "the court is seeking to issue arrest warrants against the leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, related to the October 7 attack and the Gaza war." In an exclusive interview with CNN, Khan said: "The International Criminal Court is also seeking arrest warrants against two other senior Hamas leaders, namely the leader of the Qassam Brigades known as Mohammed Deif, and the political leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh." He added that "the charges against Sinwar, Haniyeh, and Deif include extermination, murder, hostage-taking, rape, and sexual assault during detention." Khan remarked: "The world was shocked on October 7 when people were taken from their bedrooms, from their homes, and from various kibbutzim in Israel," adding that "people suffered greatly." He further stated that the charges against Netanyahu and Gallant include "causing extermination, causing famine as a means of warfare, including blocking humanitarian relief supplies, and intentionally targeting civilians in the conflict." The arrest warrants against the Israeli politicians represent the first time the International Criminal Court targets the largest and closest ally of the United States. A panel of judges from the International Criminal Court will now consider Khan's request to issue the arrest warrants.
