A spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the United Nations warned of the risks of what he called a widespread conflict between Lebanon and Israel, which carries severe consequences as cross-border shelling continues between Israel and Hezbollah. The spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, stated in a message today, "As the shelling across the Blue Line continues, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres renews his call for the parties to cease fire immediately." He added that the Secretary-General remains deeply concerned about the shelling, which he said not only disturbs the residents near the Blue Line but also has profound effects on communities in both Lebanon and Israel. He noted that Guterres calls on the parties to fully implement Security Council Resolution 1701 and to immediately return to a halt of all hostilities.
