UEFA has confirmed Manchester United's participation in the Europa League for the upcoming season. According to the Daily Mail, UEFA will allow Manchester United to compete in the European league despite restrictions on clubs under the same ownership. Manchester United and Nice, both owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS, have qualified for the Europa League next season.
The updated version of UEFA's integrity rules states that if two teams owned by the same entity qualify for a European competition, only one club is allowed to enter. However, United has received UEFA's approval to participate in the same competition as Nice under specific conditions, though this may be an exception.
It was noted that Nice will be required to be managed by a committee approved by UEFA. This model was also used to allow AC Milan and Toulouse to compete in European competitions, even though both clubs belong to the American fund "RedBird Capital."
The Daily Mail mentioned that clubs will also be informed that the 2024-2025 season will be a transitional one, indicating that "there will not be much leniency" in the coming years.
