Pedri, the star of the Spanish national team, spoke about the end of his participation in the Euro due to injury, affirming that he accepts the apology from German player Toni Kroos, who caused his knee injury. Pedri left the field injured just 8 minutes into the quarter-final match, which Spain won 2-1 after extra time following a violent tackle from Kroos.
On Sunday, Pedri responded via Instagram to Kroos' apology message and wishes for his speedy recovery. Pedri said, "Thank you, Toni Kroos, for your message. What happened can happen in football, and your career and achievements will remain forever."
He confirmed that he will remain with the national team in Germany, where Spain is preparing to face France in the semi-finals on Tuesday. He explained, "I came to Germany to participate in the European Championship and I will stay until the end of the tournament, as the dream is still ongoing."
He concluded: "It’s my turn to cheer and contribute in another way to support this great family; the support from the fans is tremendous. Go Spain!" Spanish media reported that Pedri will be out of action for up to 6 weeks.
