Offending Iraqi Sentiments: Al-Yasiri Calls for the Shiite Endowment President to Apologize

Mahmood Al-Yasiri, the commander of the Al-Ansar Al-Marji'iya Brigade, affirmed today, Tuesday, that the Hussaini shrine rejects praises of officials within it. He called for the President of the Shiite Endowment, Haidar Al-Shammari, to apologize for praising the parliament and government during the flag replacement ceremonies of the two holy shrines, Al-Hussaini and Al-Abbasiyah.

Al-Yasiri stated in the program "From a Fourth Angle," that "the President of the Shiite Endowment expressed his personal opinion in his speech at the Hussaini courtyard, and protocol does not allow Sheikh Abd al-Mahdi Al-Karbala'i to see his speech before it is delivered." He added that "the flag replacement ceremonies at the two holy shrines are away from politics and away from praising individuals; as a government employee, he should avoid such matters."

He confirmed that "Sheikh Al-Karbala'i does not allow for officials to be praised during the Hussaini ceremonies, and he was not informed about the speech of the President of the Shiite Endowment." He emphasized: "The President of the Shiite Endowment should apologize to the Iraqi people because he has offended their sentiments after praising political officials inside the holy Hussaini shrine."

He perceived that "the President of the Shiite Endowment thanked the officials as if he were seeking something from them, and he erred and provoked the Hussaini audience, warning officials not to provoke them as they are not swayed by much deception and circumvention."
