بري Discusses Southern Situation with Lazaro

Lebanon's Speaker of the House Nabih Berri met with the Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Major General Aruldo Lazaro, at the second presidential residence in Ain al-Tineh. They discussed the general situation, especially on-the-ground developments, in light of Israel's continued attacks on Lebanese border villages adjacent to Palestine and the role of UNIFIL forces in their area of operations.

Berri also followed up on political developments and security conditions during a meeting with the caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Bassam Mawlawi, who stated: "Our visit today is important and necessary, and we are optimistic about it. I assure the Lebanese that there will hopefully be good news regarding the situation in the south, as a ceasefire in Gaza is expected soon, which will likewise apply to the South of Heroes, which indeed suffers from injustice."

He added: "We also briefed President Berri on the security conditions in the country and the work of security forces and all departments of the Ministry of Interior, especially with the beginning of the summer season. We hope this season passes smoothly and comfortably, amid a climate of stability and hope for the Lebanese, who are a people of life, development, and stability."

Mawlawi concluded: "Of course, we discussed an important topic concerning the airport, which should receive full attention, especially regarding energy and electricity, and naturally security matters, which are managed by the airport security apparatus and are fully overseen by the Ministry of Interior."
