New Wave of Displacement in Sudan after Mount Moya Battles

Hundreds of Sudanese families have fled the Mount Moya area in the Sennar state of southeastern Sudan after Rapid Support Forces took control of it. Ammar Hassan Ammar, a spokesperson for the "Popular Resistance" in Sennar, wrote on his Facebook account: "Unfortunately, after continuous battles in which your forces sacrificed everything, the Mount Moya area has fallen into the hands of the Rapid Support Forces, and work is ongoing to reclaim it." The Rapid Support Forces confirmed on their account on the platform "X": "The brave Rapid Support Forces successfully liberated the Mount Moya area across the Sennar and White Nile states." A military official clarified that the importance of the Mount Moya area lies in "securing the Sennar-Rabak road, which connects the White Nile state to the Sennar state and subsequently to eastern Sudan."
