The match started with pressure from the home team, and Vinícius Júnior succeeded in scoring the opening goal in the 6th minute with a powerful shot from the edge of the box to the far left of goalkeeper Gazzaniga. Real Madrid continued their attempts, with Fede Valverde taking a free kick that Gazzaniga managed to catch easily. Bellingham also tried a shot from the edge of the box that went just past the left post in the 32nd minute.
Bellingham scored the second goal for Real Madrid in the 35th minute, receiving a through pass from Vinícius Júnior. Yan Couto committed a harsh foul on Arda Güler inside the box, prompting the referee to award a penalty to Real Madrid. Substitute Joselu stepped up to take the penalty, hitting the right post and missing the chance to score the fifth goal.
