Mourning of Egyptian Football Player

A number of famous figures in Egyptian sports have mourned the death of Ahmed Refaat, a player for Modern Sport and the Pharaohs national team, following complications from a heart crisis he experienced during a local league match four months ago.

Mohamed Salah, a player for Liverpool, expressed his condolences by posting a photo on his social media accounts, captioning it: "May God rest his soul, and may He grant patience to his family and all his loved ones."

Omar Kamel Abdel Wahid, a player for Al Ahly and the national team, shared a picture of Ahmed Refaat on his Facebook account, writing: "Oh my heart aches for you, my brother, my friend, and my companion through life. I can’t believe it; I can’t comprehend it, but all I will say is that you are cherished by the one who created you; He is more merciful to you than any evil you have encountered."

Mustafa Shubir, the goalkeeper for Al Ahly, posted a photo on Instagram, saying: "There is no god but Allah. It’s hard to believe. May God have mercy on you, my dear, and grant you paradise, and may your illness intercede for you on the Day of Judgment."

Al Ahly star Mahmoud Kahraba also mourned the passing of Ahmed Refaat on his social media accounts, saying: "There is no power and no strength except with Allah. What a heartache this is! May Allah have mercy on you, Refaat, and may your illness be in the balance of your good deeds and intercede for you. May He grant patience to your family and to all of us in this great shock; it's hard to comprehend. It seemed like you were present in that meeting just to bid us farewell, Ahmed. May Allah affirm you during questioning, forgive you, and grant you abundant paradise. O Allah, amen."
