General Strike in the West Bank in Protest Against Gaza Massacres

A general strike swept across provinces in the West Bank today, Sunday, in condemnation of the "massacres committed by the Israeli army in Gaza yesterday," according to Palestinian media reports. In Bethlehem, the Factional Coordination Committee announced a complete strike today in protest of the "massacres of the occupation in Khan Younis and the Beach Camp" yesterday, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of Palestinians and many injured.

The Factional Coordination Committee stated in a press release that the strike "includes all aspects of life, with the exception of hospitals, the health directorate, pharmaceutical factories, medical centers, pharmacies, bakeries, and fuel stations." The strike also spread across the streets of Tulkarem in protest against the "massacres of the Israeli occupation in Gaza yesterday," as well as in the city of Jenin. The strike was announced via mosque loudspeakers in the city of Qalqilya "in mourning for the martyrs of the Khan Younis massacre."

The Bar Association announced a suspension of work in all civil, military, administrative courts, and settlement courts across all provinces, except for "urgent requests and requests for detention extensions and bail, in protest against the ongoing massacres against our people."

The Israeli army committed a massacre on Saturday afternoon in the Mawasi area west of Khan Younis (in the southern Gaza Strip), resulting in the deaths of dozens of Palestinians and many injuries. The final toll announced by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip on Saturday evening stated that "the number of deaths from the massacre committed by the Israeli army in the Mawasi area reached 90 Palestinians, with 300 others injured."

The ministry stated in a statement that "the toll of the horrific massacre committed by the occupation against citizens and displaced persons in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis is 90 martyrs, half of whom are children and women." The ministry noted the presence of "critical and serious injuries." Palestinian media also reported an "increase in the number of martyrs to 22 Palestinians due to the occupation's bombardment of a prayer hall in the Beach Camp west of Gaza City yesterday."
