According to the Israeli newspaper "Jerusalem Post," over half of Israelis, reaching 58%, believe that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should resign immediately, including 28% who voted for the bloc supporting Netanyahu in the elections, according to a poll. The newspaper reported that 48% of Israelis also believe that Defense Minister Yoav Galant should resign immediately, while 50% think that Israel's Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi should also resign, with 56% believing that Ronen Bar, head of the Israeli Security Agency (Shabak), should resign as well.
Additionally, 54% of respondents said elections should be held early, while more than one-third, or 37%, stated that ministers Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot should leave the government. The poll indicated that if elections were held today, the National Unity Party led by Benny Gantz would receive 31 seats, Likud would receive 18 seats, and the Yesh Atid party would receive 15 seats, while Shas, Israel Beitenu, and Otzma Yehudit would each receive 10 seats. The United Torah Judaism party would receive 8 seats, while Hadash and the United Arab List would get 5 seats, and Meretz and the Religious Zionist party would each secure 4 seats.
The results of the poll would leave the bloc currently supporting Netanyahu with 50 seats and the bloc surrounding Gantz and Yair Lapid with 65 seats. The newspaper pointed out that in a hypothetical situation where former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen, and Knesset member Gideon Sa'ar form a new party, they would garner 18 seats. In contrast, the National Unity Party's share would drop to 22 seats, Likud would have 16 seats, Yesh Atid would have 11 seats, and the Labor Party would secure 6 seats if Yair Golan leads it.
