Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asserted that Israel will not withdraw from the Gaza Strip until the full disarmament of Hamas is achieved, emphasizing his administration's commitment to what he described as "Israel's security interests."
In a recorded interview, Netanyahu stated that Israeli forces will remain in their current positions until Hamas is fully disarmed, regarding this step as a fundamental condition for any withdrawal from the area.
He added that U.S. President Donald Trump and his team believe in the possibility of implementing a plan to disarm Hamas and the Gaza Strip, noting that Israel is still reviewing the proposed plan.
Netanyahu explained that the American side has sent a draft of the plan to the Israeli government, but Tel Aviv has not approved it in its current form and has returned its observations to Washington for further consultations.
Netanyahu's remarks come at a time when communications are ongoing between the United States and Israel regarding the future of Gaza and potential security arrangements, amid ongoing disputes over the mechanisms for implementing any agreement related to disarmament and future governance of the strip.
